Ken Ikawa "The Shape of Lacquer"

Wacoal Ginza Art Space
Finished

Artists

Ken Ikawa
The shape of the object to which lacquer is being applied is important; due to the special characteristic of lacquer being a liquid, it has no recourse but to rely on separate materials to form the basis of the object's shape. By repeating the creative process of applying lacquer,
the artist became aware of the process by which even lacquer achieves form due to its special qualities.
