From fashion to documentary, Shingo Wakagi's photographs appear in magazines, advertisements, music and other genres. Some might recognize his name from his previous solo exhibition, "Time & Portraits" held at Tokyo Hipsters Club last September.
Wakagi's started taking photographs of his grandfather when he was a junior high school student. As he started focusing on photography in college, he realized that the portrait series of his grandfather was a significant starting point in pursuing his practice. Since he was born, he was always around his grandfather, and the scenes captured with his grandfather also spoke of his own history.
This exhibition, entitled "Funeral," concludes Wakagi's portrait series of his grandfather, who passed away in 2005. The last days his grandfather spent at home, his funeral, and days without him are naturally captured through his viewpoint.
