"Summer - Asahi Shinbun and High School Baseball" Exhibition

Newspark - The Japan Newspaper Museum
Finished
Calls from Asahi Shinbun resulted in the first Japanese National Junior High and High School Baseball Tournament held in 1915 at Toyonaka Field in Osaka. The tournament was held in the hopes of promoting the spiritual and physical development of Japanese youth through baseball, and 73 schools participated. This year the tournament reaches its 89th year and 4,000 schools will participate. This is an exhibition that celebrates the history of this annual Japanese high school baseball tournament through photographs, newspaper panels and memorial items of former players.
