"Goldilocks and the Three Bears" Exhibition

Ghibli Museum, Mitaka
Finished
This exhibition, on the picture book “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”, was curated by Hayao Miyazaki himself with commentary by Isao Takahata. In the first room, the bears’ house is recreated. A large table and chairs, a large plate and spoon are there and viewers can experience Goldilocks' desire to touch everything in the room. In the second room, Director Takahata breaks down why “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” is interesting to children.

“Goldilocks and the Three Bears” was originally passed down by word of mouth as folklore. Now it has been put into text and numerous picture book versions have been published all over the world. This exhibition is based on a version with text by Tolstoy and illustrations by Basnetsov that was published in Russia in 1961 and translated and published in Japan in 1962 by Fukuinkan Shoten Publishing.
