Contemporary Tea Ceremony Utensils Exhibition IV

This year's tea ceremony utensil exhibition is the fourth such installment, featuring original works by representative contemporary artists and craftsmen, and new suggestions for a contemporary version of the chanoyu (tea ceremony).

Participating artists include Toru Matsuzaki, known for his wood lacquer of rare intensity; Wataru Sato, an acclaimed ceramicist; Toru Kaneko, a goldsmith who forges innovative techniques in his craft; Shunkei Yahagi, a practitioner of female calligraphy who pursues the exciting and limitless possibilities of the genre; interior designer Shigeru Uchida, and many others. In addition, new tea holders and other tea utensils made by Czech glass artisans will also be on display.

On November 16th (Sun), a tea ceremony will be held using these utensils and with delicious food from Ori Higashiya. To participate, apply on the website (Japanese only).

*Works on display are also for sale. Please come early to purchase your favorite pieces.
