Noriko Ito "It Has Gone And It Never Returns"

Art Lab Tokyo

Artists

Noriko Ito
Exhibition of new works by Noriko Ito, who has an unusual predilection for "girliness". Ito's paintings express the cute aesthetic that has made Cool Japan's name all over the world. In 2006, the Japan Society in New York showcased a range of new creations that represented the "girly" aesthetic following on from Japan's otaku culture. Although the term is typically applied to fashion, Ito's works lie beyond this context. Since last year, this artist has enjoyed a spate of attention that establishes her work as representative of a new artistic trend, with shows in Florida, New York and Amsterdam. 14 of her newest pieces are on display.
