As part of a project to make Tokyo a place to "create and bring together 'Japan Value (Japan's new value, sensibility and talent)' and to keep disseminating it to the world", the Tokyo Midtown Award was launched in 2008 with the aim of discovering and supporting artists and designers from the next generation. For this year's 2nd installment, a total of 1677 works were submitted to the art and design competitions, out of which 13 works will be selected. During Tokyo Midtown Design Touch 2009, held concurrently with this event at Tokyo Midtown, award-winning pieces will be presented and exhibited, while talk shows by the panel members will be held also.
