Uplink Factory
Finished
While the Japanese manga culture is internationally famous, what about the illustration scene in the Middle East? In many cultures, caricatures appear in newspapers and magazines. 30 years since the Iran Revolution, what sort of caricatures have been depicted in Iran? Inviting the editorial director of Gol Agha, the only long-running satirical weekly magazine existing in the region, this talk event examines Islamic caricatures and how people interpret political issues through them. About 30 satirical illustrations from Gol Agha will be presented at the gallery from January 14th to 20th.

Guest: Giti Safarzadeh (Gol Agha), Kosei Ono (manga critic/ Japan Society for Studies in Cartoon and Comics)
