Takenori Iizuka
"Discover Japan" was a national rail tourism promotion campaign that ran for 7 years beginning in 1971, focusing mostly on poster, magazine and newspaper advertisements. This campaign was also the origin of the "annon-zoku" (young female solo/group free-and-easy travelers), at the time of rapid economic growth and burgeoning leisure time. These photos recreate these images from posters of the time, showing how advertising was connected to the glamor of travel.
