The world's first interactive digital globe.
Real time cloud movements, global warming, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, migratory bird movements and more are reflected in this model, built to allow audiences to see the view from outer space and experience the dynamism of the Earth's activities.
The prototype for this "tangible earth" was launched in 2002, after which various improvements were made. It won rave reviews at the 2005 Aichi Expo, received the Gold Good Design Prize in 2005, and was exhibited to an enthusiastic audience at the Toyako G8 Summit in 2008.
This globe was created not only as a tool to learn about our environment interactively and in real time, but also as a public platform for evolving a global sensibility and consciousness.
