Ether is the concept of a medium that transmits light waves. Faced with the prevalence of Einstein's theory of relativity, ether holds no meaning: it has become just an imaginary concept whose validity does not have to be proven. While ether is used to generate fresh and clean air in the West, Chinese philosopher Dam Sa Dong believed that it consists of small particles scattered throughout the world and cannot be sensed through our five senses. Japanese film director Shunji Iwai, on the other hand, depicts ether as some sort of mental agency in his film "All About Lily Chou Chou."

Ether is also a medium of light and a vessel for a closed mind to be able to listen to what others' minds say. Gim Eun Ji is intrigued by this particular characteristic. The artist's work, functioning like an enigmatic storyteller in daily circumstances, stimulates our imagination.
