Circuses are incredible things. The giant tents that appear overnight on the site of a bleak, abandoned switchyard suddenly disappear without warning. The charming music that leaked out of the tent just yesterday becomes just the shadow of a strange, bizarre dream.
Enomoto, whose childhood memories are full of circuses - their animated yet melancholy clowns, the roar of motorcycles spinning in the center of steel balls and swings in midair - began visiting these places in an attempt to trace the sources of those memories. He has spent more than 10 years photographing circuses. Many of their members come from China, Russia and Thailand. A cosmopolitan community where diverse languages and culture mingle, in addition to animals like bears and white tigers, each member lives in this international village as part of an entire family.
