"The World of Chuta Kimura" Exhibition

Takasaki Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Chuta Kimura
Chuta Kimura was born in Takamatsu in 1917. His talent for painting attracted much attention from early on, but he soon felt constrained by the practice of oil painting in Japan and moved to Paris with his wife in 1953, spending the next 34 years portraying natural landscapes. On display is a selection of paintings by Kimura focusing on pieces donated last year to the museum from the Kazuo Hara collection.
