Sai Maruta was born in 1969 in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture. This is his first solo show in Tokyo featuring a number of acrylic and oil paintings on paper and canvas that have also been "hit" with a German-made 0.1mm Rotring pen typically used for industrial drawings.
The exhibition title derives from the artist's process - Maruta spent one year "hitting" the canvas and puncturing it with tiny dots 10 hours a day as a form of prayer for peace.
