Eikyu Matsuoka
Born in Hyogo prefecture in west Japan, Eikyu Matsuoka lived in an academic household with his Confucian scholar father, the Japanese literati and singer Michiyasu Inoue, ethnologist Kunio Yanagita, and linguist Shizuo Matsuoka. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he devoted himself to researching the Heian and Kamakura era Yamatoe art. This exhibition features around 70 works from Matsuoka's early to late period, exploring the origins and process of his creativity.
