Oh Sukkuhn
This series of works is derived from the boy named “Chulsoo” and the girl named “Younghee” who first made their appearance in Korean textbooks during the Park Chung Hee administration, maintaining their presence through the mid-1990s.

Most Koreans are familiar with “Chulsoo” and “Younghee” as familiar icons from a publication that is, in a certain sense, a sort of Bible for children. Each of Oh's works is inspired by specific scenes that are still fresh in the mind of the entire nation in some instances. By making “Chulsoo” and “Younghee” visible once again in his works, Oh questions the nature of individual memories and the ways in which they are derived.
