Emaki are said to be the origin of Japanese picture books, though these too came from the picture scrolls that were brought from China in the eighth century introducing Chinese scenes and customs in text and pictures. This exhibition features the work of seven picture book artists working in China today. The picture books are uniquely Chinese, portraying fathers coming home from the cities for the New Year in spring, or scenes from "The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms".
