Presenting the works of Takeo Yamaguchi (1902–1983), who left a major mark on modern and contemporary Japanese painting. Yamaguchi was born in present-day Seoul and moved to France after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts. He worked with artists such as Yuzo Saeki and Takanori Ogisu before moving to Seoul, where he participated in the avant-garde art group Kyu-shitsu Kai. After WWII, he won critical acclaim for his unique black, brown, and yellow paintings. His works on display here are both abstract and representational, and include oil paintings, watercolors, and painted ceramics.
