Taikan Yokoyama, Togyu Okumura, Tamako Kataoka, Reji Hiramatsu, Hasui Kawase et al.
In June of 2013 Mount Fuji was awarded the status of “World Heritage Status”, as a historic place of worship and inspiration to many treasured art works. Not only is Mount Fuji the highest mountain in Japan but it is also a symbol of the country itself. It is enveloped in a beauty of the shifting four seasons, with not only with an appeal to the eye but also an appeal to our pride, hope and dreams. This exhibition celebrates the many levels at which Mount Fuji can be appreciated with Taikan Yokoyama’s “A Day in the Pacific Ocean” and other collections of nihonga, oil painting and prints from the Meiji period onwards.
