With his free imagination and radical approach Junichi Arai, as a textile planner, has given birth to a whole series of textiles never seen before. With the care and respect towards traditional methods, combined with innovative new technology Arai creates textiles which seem to take their place in the future. Through a series of installations this exhibition presents an overview of Arai’s 60 year career in textile design, accompanied with the traditional garments which proved to be the origin of his long engagement in this field.
