Masaaki Hiroi
Born in 1985 into a family of spinning top makers, Masaaki Hiroi became the fourth generation to take on this occupation and continue the tradition of the spinning top dating back to the Edo era. His fondness for this toy has led him across the world, including the US and France, in the promotion of the history and context of the Japanese spinning top. This exhibition places a new spotlight on his practice with a feature on his range of original spinning tops, as well as a chance to see him in production.
