Artists

Saburo Miyamoto
In celebration of its tenth anniversary, the museum presents a three-part series of exhibitions featuring the paintings of Saburo Miyamoto (1905–1974) from its collection. The first show focuses on Miyamoto’s works from the 1920s and 1930s, a time during which he applied himself in art school, gained recognition in the art community, and lived in Europe. Among the displayed works are early pieces such as “(Untitled, Younger Sister/Shino)” from 1922, and paintings created after he left for Europe in 1939. Miyamoto’s artwork for magazine covers and illustrations for serialized novels are also introduced.
