In 2007, artist Satoru Yoshioka donned a gas mask and helmet and rode an air-pressure-controlled emergency elevator in Switzerland 100 meters under the earth to see a laboratory 27 kilometers in circumference used to find the “God Particle.” Yoshioka took these 40 color photographs while contemplating the mysteries of the universe and the question of why we exist.
