After making his debut through a US indies label, musician Shuta Hasunuma lept onto the Japanese scene with the band “Shuta Hasunuma Team”, as well as the 15 member “Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic Orchestra”. Taking his music to another level, in recent years he has come to combine video, sound, sculpture and installation in the process of composition, as well as collaborating with numerous other artists. In this exhibition Hasunuma features an installation of moving images and music he has collected through his travels, offering a glimpse upon an absent presence and the after-images of distant lands, joined together with music in spatial form. This exhibition is also accompanied by the release of Hasunma’s first catalogue and marks his final show in Japan before taking up research in the US under the support of the Asian Cultural Council.
