Two leading figures of contemporary Nihonga, Eien Iwahashi(1903-1999) and Seiji Yoshimura(1960) are brought together in this exhibition which celebrates the innovations of this traditional genre and its lineage which continues to be passed down through generations. While taking various directions in his artistic practice Iwahashi was renowned as a proponent of post-war nihonga, while Seiji Yoshimura has come to follow in his footsteps to emerge as a new leader of the art form.
