Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Yuzo Saeki, Tsuguharu Fujita, Charles Gesmar, George Barbier, Leonetto Cappiello et al.
The short life of Yuzo Saeki(1898-1928) brought a shining light to the world of Japanese modern painting, caught in the throes of the Parisian art scene he lived and worked with a ferocity that impressed many, and his paintings still continue to capture the eyes of many over 80 years after his death. This exhibition draws on the exceptional collection of the New Museum of Art Osaka to present 58 of Saeki’s works from across his career, along with examples of work of his contemporaries such as Katsuzo Satomi and Maurice de Vlaminck, as well as popular Parisian posters from the 1920s.
