Toshihiko Bito
Using plaster molds and traditional Japanese wax art techniques, Toshihiko Bito creates wax sculptures of the human body with qualities of impermanence that transform the gallery space into a transparent, floating world. Bito’s works are a return to the art of wax casting, which at one point died out when the introduction of firing techniques replaced wax molds with metal.
