“Naka-Boso International Art Festival Ichihara Art x Mix”

Ichihara Lakeside Museum
Finished
With 57 artists/groups from 13 different countries this leading art project lands once again upon Ichihara to continue its repurposing of deserted schools, effective use of transportation including the Kominato railway and bus routes, rediscovery of local resources such as foods and natural environment; and wide participation of people from all backgrounds. Home to 280,000 people, in Boso Peninsula, Ichihara city has moved from a farming and fishing area to that of a commuter town for those working in Tokyo, while the original agricultural areas suffer from depopulation and dilapidation, reflecting issues currently being faced across Japan.
“Naka-Boso International Art Festival Ichihara Art x Mix” is aimed at solving problems of these areas one by one through the power of art, which can help us rediscover the resources of local areas, and the collaboration with people from many walks of life, mainly in and around highland communities in the southern part of the city.
