Shinzaburo Takeda, an artist residing in Mexico, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Oaxaca State Benito Juarez Autonomous University. In recognition of this achievement, Promo Arte presents a second exhibition of Takeda’s work, as well as those by a favorite student.

Takeda moved from Mexico City to the traditional city of Oaxaca in 1978. During this period he worked as Dean of the Fine Arts Department at Benito Juarez University in Oaxaca, where he set up a bachelor’s course at the university. In 2008, he organized “Shinzaburo Takeda’s Print National Biennial” with former students, enlivening the Mexican engraving movement. Their “IV Biennial” became a nationwide itinerate show that also traveled to the U.S.A. and Cuba. In 2012, Takeda was officially honored for his 30 years of achievements at the university.
