Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Tokyo)
Finished

Artists

Cy Twombly
Cy Twombly, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, worked vigorously in both painting and sculpture but is best remembered for his distinctive style of “drawn poetry.” The Hara Museum presents a much-acclaimed exhibition from the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg and other major museums of Europe and North America. Reorganized specifically for the Hara Museum, it features of works selected by Twombly during his lifetime (he passed away in 2011). Displaying some 70 drawings and monotypes on paper showcasing the artist’s exuberant spontaneity, tempo, passion, and instinct, this groundbreaking exhibit introduces 50 years of Twombly’s singular work. Some pieces will also be displayed at Hara Museum Arc in Gunma.
