Koichi Nabatame “The Bloom of Painting”

Sogo Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Koichi Nabatame
Selected for the Japan Art Academy’s Inten at the tender year of 16, Koichi Nabatame(b. 1933, Ibaraki) demonstrated the blooming of his talent from an early age and continued to explore various approaches to oil painting while running his own company. Upon meeting Toshio Matsuo he gained encouragement in his particular style and came to focus on painstakingly intricate works based on the observation of nature, which he pushed towards new territory with his own original interpretation and keen eye, capturing reality to a point of accuracy which advances it to fantasy. This exhibition brings together approximately 70 works spanning his career and unveiling the lyrical world of an artist who continues to work into his 80s.
