Sogo Museum of Art

The Sogo Museum of Art is located on the 6th floor of the Sogo Yokohama store, which opened in September 1985 and played a pioneering role in the Minato Mirai 21 Plan, which aims to create a new city in Yokohama. Sogo Yokohama has various cultural facilities to serve as a base for information on cultural and daily activities. Above all, in consideration of the current situation of cultural facilities in Yokohama and Kanagawa, we want to contribute to the local culture and at the same time to focus on a broader worldwide culture. Opened on September 20, 1985, the museum was the first in a department store in Japan to be registered under the Museum Law (registration number: Kanagawa No. 22). Approximately 200 oil paintings and watercolors by Shintaro Suzuki, etc. are the center of the collection, and at the exhibition, a wide range of domestic and foreign artwork such as Western paintings, Japanese paintings, crafts, sculptures, prints, and photographs are exhibited. In addition, through art lectures and other activities, we are playing an important role as a base for cultural activities in the community.
