This “lab” is the latest incarnation of Nobuhiko Utsumi’s Painting Lab held from 2000 to 2012. Under the direction of Nobuhiko Utsumi, artists continue to cope with the trials of this age in which historical relevance is deconstructed and everything is turned into a simulation. Participants produce research and works of art striving to capture artistic ideas expressed in new forms of creativity. These works demonstrate the potential for new expressions that reframe this era in terms of relationships between history and the self.
