Artists

Kae Higuchi
The artist Kae Higuchi is known for her depictions of unusual children with slightly off-kilter ambiences. This exhibition focuses on her original illustrations, a new medium for Higuchi, who until now has worked mainly in wood sculpture and copperplate printmaking. “Kagami no Naka” (Inside the Mirror), an ghost story with words by the Naoki Prize-nominated novelist Riku Onda and pictures by Higuchi, came out in July 2014. Each of the 18 illustrated pages of book stands alone as an eerie and strangely beautiful work of art. Around 30 picture book illustrations, paintings, sculptures, and drawings, including new works, are on display.
