Artists

Moto Hagio
Since her 1969 debut with “Lulu and Mimi,” Moto Hagio has produced enduring genre-spanning masterpieces such as “The Poe Family” and “The Heart of Thomas.” Along with other popular illustrators including Keiko Takemiya and Yumiko Oshima, she is a member of the Year 24 Group comprised of female manga artists who created a golden age of shojo manga in the 1970s.
In 1975 Hagio released “They Were Eleven,” an unprecedentedly major work of science fiction in shojo manga that shook the industry. Hagio followed this with more great titles including “10 Billion Days and 100 Billion Nights,” “Star Red,” “Marginal,” and “Otherworld Barbara,” continuing to captivate fans. This dream exhibition of more than 200 original illustrations from sci-fi manga, including Hagio’s color illustrations and drafts, demonstrates the star of this artist who captivated the planet still shines brightly.
