Artists

Yuji Hamada
The international artist Yuji Hamada explores what it means to see or not see through the medium of photography. “36 Lights,” his latest film series started in 2014, features 36 unedited images simply capturing the passage of time. In each photo and the in resonance between them, what is not shown and what cannot be seen slowly asserts itself upon the viewer. Seen in the gallery, the beginning and ending of this series becomes hazy, forming a loop that reaffirms the strangeness of time as a ceaseless presence in our lives. Hamada provokes thought on what “invisibility” truly is with the product of light known as photography.
