Tokyo Station Gallery is delighted to announce a long-awaited solo exhibition – the first in 17 years in Japan – for Giorgio Morandi, one of the best still life painters of the 20th century. A solitary painter who seldom left his hometown of Bologna throughout his life, Morandi is known for continuing to single-mindedly paint still life and landscapes, creating truly rich variations in his works through slight changes of tone and composition. This exhibition showcases approximately 100 of Morandi’s works, including around 50 of his oil paintings, with a focus on the variations for which he is most noted.
