Part I of the Idemitsu Museum of Arts’ 50th anniversary exhibition series focuses on yamato-e (Japanese-style painting). Led by court culture, this style interweaves brilliant colors and soft forms’ symbols of traditional Japanese art, especially seasonal changes portrayed in trees, mountains, flowers, and birds. Works include Important Cultural Properties “Illustrated Sutra of Past Causes and Present Effects” and “Paintings of the Eight Patriarchs of Shingon Sect Buddhism. “Volume I of the National Treasure” Illustrated Scrolls on the Courtier Ban Dainagon” is exhibited for the first time in 10 years during this period.
