Artists

Kazuo Sumida
Kazuo Sumida is a highly respected photographer in Japan and internationally and is known for receiving the 11th Tabihiko Hayashi Award for his work “New York Subway Stories”. In this exhibition he explores the economic gap so clearly visible in the streets of Manila, which he frequented whilst teaching there between 2014-2016. Turning his eye particularly to the street children who inhabit the city, he searches out the cheerful expressions of these vulnerable youngsters whilst also revealing the harsh reality they must survive in.
