Jarmila Mucha Plocková, grandchild of painter Alfons Mucha, studied architecture and design at art schools in Prague and Barcelona. In 1988 she inherited the exclusive rights to her grandfather’s jewelry, flower vase and accessory designs. Plocková’s main source of inspiration is Alphonse Mucha’s “Documents Décoratifs,” published in Paris in 1902 and used widely as a reference by students of art and craft. A combination of this and her own intuition assisted Plocková in creating a collection of unique kitchenware, cutlery and flower vases. Furthermore, she has also created a collection of jewelry using gold, semi-precious stones and enamel that features flowers and other decorative details. One of her most exceptional pieces is a necklace titled “Marscha” that was designed as a proposed piece of bridal jewelry to be presented by Mucha to his wife, Plocková’s grandmother. Plocková’s original designs will be displayed along her final pieces, giving a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work.
