Nonnow Naruse “Gazoku”

Gallery UG Bakurocho
Finished

Artists

Nonnow Naruse
Nonnow Naruse’s 2015 series “Biseibutsu” depicted men in gay and other erotic fantasies from a female perspective. “Gazoku” looks at the subculture of “bujoshi” (women who enjoy gay erotica) and places it within the context of art history, considering a high-culture version of it. It also explores why masculine beauty has been underrepresented in art history, aiming to increase the diversity of male and female depiction in art.
