Masayoshi Sukita is an international photographer at the forefront of his profession, active across various genres and recognized for his work in advertising as well as his portraits of numerous celebrities such as Iggy Pop and YMO. One of the people Sukita has taken the most photographs of over the years is world-renowned artist David Bowie, who passed away much to the shock of his fans in January 2016. Sukita began photographing Bowie in the 1970s, and while this helped the photographer gain recognition, many of his photographs are now recognized internationally as symbolic portraits of Bowie. In this exhibition around 40 photographs of Bowie shot by Sukita will be displayed. This will include photographs taken when Bowie came to Japan. Get a sense of the relationship that developed between these two men over many years, and enjoy exploring moments from different eras throughout this influential artist’s career.
