Kanae Itakura, Sumiko Itakura
Exhibiting the paintings of Kanae Itakura and Sumiko Itakura, a married couple who studied together in Paris in the 1920s and both passed away while still in their twenties. Works from the museum collection by Shikanosuke Oka and other contemporaries who studied and worked in Europe around the same time are also displayed. The Itakuras reveal another facet of prewar artwork by Japanese artists in Europe, a theme the museum continues to explore.
