Artists

Sumito Sakakibara
Known for his award-winning animations, Sumito Sakakibara’s works have been screened in Japanese museums and film festivals around the world. With skillful compressions of time, repetitions of movement, and transformations of motifs, Sakakibara’s works tell stories with a quietly detached perspective in a way that brings our attention to the origins, fates, and workings of things. Myth in the Backyard features five new acrylic and animated works created with the poet Taichi Nakao. Experience the emotions of these dialogues between words, animation, and painting.
