Once every two years Iriya Gallery in Tokyo’s Taito Ward holds an open competition for sculptors under the age of 40. The second Iriya Koubo Award goes to four artists whose works are well suited to “tokonoma” recessed display spaces, a special feature of Japanese architecture. The winners are: Yuichi Muroya, Yuki Otake, Takuya Fukada, and Chiaki Yokota.
