Toshiko Okamoto (née Hirano) first met Taro Okamoto, whom she would later become the secretary and adopted daughter of, in 1948. Over the following decades, Toshiko ended up contributing to Taro’s life in both a professional and private capacity. “Myth of Tomorrow” is an epic work by Taro that was discovered in Mexico by Toshiko after the artist’s death. This exhibition will present Taro’s original studies for “Myth of Tomorrow” alongside valuable items such as the diary detailing his activities, which was left behind by Toshiko. Get to know artist Taro Okamoto from the perspective of Toshiko, a key individual who had great influence over Taro’s life and work.
