Smart Illumination Yokohama 2018 is a five-day event (Oct. 31–Nov. 4) combining art and environmentally friendly, energy-efficient technologies to create a new nightscape. Started after the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, which reconfirmed the importance of responsible energy use, this creative festival includes an art program, a Smart Illumination Award for promising artists, and an array of energy-efficient light-up displays around Yokohama. There will also be participant installations, workshops, and many other events to enjoy.
