1st Kavli IPMU AIR Program Artist Exhibition

Kamata_Soko
Finished

Artists

Yasuo Nomura, Norimichi Hirakawa, Kentaro Haruyama
The intersection between science and art can have deep meaning. For example, at the beginning of the 20th century, this intersection created a vibrant culture led by artists such as Picasso and Duchamp. Now, in the 21st century, Japanese research lab Kavli IPMU is once again bringing science and art together.
Kavli IPMU combines math, physics, and astronomy to answer questions about the universe. Artists were invited to the lab for one month to create works of art while interacting with scientists. This exhibit will show works resulting from the program by one artist each in the fields of painting, media art, and sculpture, along with related events by specialists of various fields.
