Odilon Redon
Odilon Redon was a French painter active in France in the second half of the nineteenth century, when artists such as Monet and Renior were championing the Impressionist movement. Though Redon was of the same generation, he chose a different path, focusing instead on the fantastic world of dreams, fantasy and the imagination. This exhibition will explore the plants that Redon depicted in his work. It will present “Grand Bouquet,” his largest pastel work that once hung in the dining room of Baron Domecy’s castle and is now part of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum collection. You can enjoy this alongside 15 wall paintings on loan from the Musée d’Orsay that once hung in the same space. This large-scale exhibition of Redon’s work presents elegant pieces from art collections around the world under one roof.
