This is the third exhibition for Takashi Kanazawa, a young artist who uses metallic mineral paints and gold and silver foil in his Nihonga paintings depicting the wildness of birds, mythical beasts, and other creatures. Intricate layering builds a sense of tension and movement in the wings and hair of these animals so that their fierceness is evident, their sophisticated forms emerging out of black backgrounds and evoking a sense of life and death.
